Standard PVC helmet with flip-front lens
Our Welding Helmet (308-2) is a black PVC head-mounted helmet with a standard-view flip-front lens, 108x50mm, on a padded adjustable ratchet harness. The Welding Helmet Flip Front (308-1300) is the same design with a larger 108x80mm lens for a wider view, and conforms to EN175. Both flip up when not welding and flip down to weld — simple, low-cost, and the standard choice for most arc welding work.
Fibreglass helmet with fixed face screen
Our Fibreglass Welding Helmet (308-66500) has a fixed face screen made of thermoplastic melted with glass fibre, on an adjustable ratchet headguard. Unlike the flip-front helmets, the screen doesn’t flip — it’s built for welders who are in the helmet continuously rather than switching between welding and checking work by eye.
Auto-darkening helmet
Our Welding Helmet Auto Darkening Shade 9-13 (308-5220K) is suitable for Arc, MIG/MAG, TIG and Plasma welding. It stays flipped down throughout the job: photosensors detect the arc and switch the lens from a light shade 4 to the pre-selected welding shade automatically, in 0.5 milliseconds, then back again once the arc stops. It’s solar powered, so there’s no battery to replace. This is the helmet for anyone doing frequent, varied welding work who doesn’t want to be flipping a shield up and down all day.
Which one for which job
Occasional or single-process arc welding: the standard flip-front helmet (308-2 or 308-1300, depending on how wide a view you want) does the job at the lowest cost. Continuous heavy-duty welding where the helmet stays on: the fibreglass fixed-screen helmet. Frequent welding across multiple processes, or work that involves switching between welding and close inspection: the auto-darkening helmet removes the flip-up/flip-down step entirely.
